
National 5 and Higher Geography – Advice to parents and carers from staff
- N5 – 1.75mins a mark. Higher 1.1 minutes a mark. Practice past paper questions using the “possible exam questions” OneNote pages for each topic, using the skills pages in the “skills” pages in OneNote to help guide how to answer different question types.
- Towards the end of the course, they should practice full past papers from the SQA website. Maps can be borrowed from teachers, used in school and then returned the same day – they don’t go home.
- Pupils can also use the OneNote checklists for each topic to guide their revision
- Paper revision page is available for each topic – available from teachers or PowerPoint versions available in OneNote.

Advanced Higher Geography – Advice to parents and carers from staff
- Pupils should follow their writing frames for the Issues Essay and Study to ensure they include all the requirements in their folio. They should respond independently to teacher feedback when it’s given. All deadlines must be adhered to.
- Borrow maps in school and practice Mapwork questions. The maps don’t leave school. Practice past paper questions using the OneNote exam practice pages and, latterly, full past papers using the ones on the SQA website.
- Use the AH checklist in OneNote to guide revision for the other parts of the exam.
