National 5 Graphic Communication – Advice to parents and carers from staff

  • Students will undertake their Course Assessment Task during February and March consisting of:
  • 8 Hour Graphics Assignment worth 40 marks.
  • This must be fully completed in class time only and submitted by 19th March.
  • Use Achieve and QS Past Paper service to help revise key topics in preparation for final exam.
  • Question Paper worth 80 marks
  • The @ScottishTekTok channel on YouTube has a range of excellent video resources for all CDT subjects.
  • Students should take time to familiarise with questions regarding CAD modelling plans, being able to describe and use CAD commands and assembly constraints.
  • Students should ensure sufficient depth and detail in being able to justify and use examples of design elements and principals used in Desk Top Publishing and Graphic Design.
  • Remember to revisit knowledge around the use of British Standards conventions for drawings and dimensions, sectioning, building drawings and surface developments.

Higher Graphic Communication – Advice to parents and carers from staff

  • Students will undertake their Course Assessment Task during February and March consisting of:
  • 8 Hour Graphics Assignment worth 50 marks.
  • This must be fully completed in class time only and submitted by 19th March.
  • Use Achieve and QS Past Paper service to help revise key topics in preparation for final exam.
  • Question Paper worth 90 marks
  • The @ScottishTekTok channel on YouTube has a range of excellent video resources for all CDT subjects.
  • Students should take time to familiarise with questions regarding CAD modelling plans, being able to describe basic and advanced CAD commands and assembly constraints.
  • Students should ensure sufficient depth and detail in expanded answer questions, being able to justify and use examples of the design elements and principals used in Desk Top Publishing.
  • Remember, students should revisit their prior/assumed knowledge from National 5 Graphic Communication, this includes the use of British Standards conventions for drawings and dimensions.
