
National 5 Fashion & Textiles – Advice to parents and carers from staff
- Students should now have completed Section 1 of the Course assignment and be thinking of how they will test and evaluate their design solution against the brief. (See guidance notes in class team)
- Precision and attention to detail in Practical activity are key- students should refer to feedback and next steps on previous projects and consult construction techniques guide in files section of class Team for quality indicators. After school sessions can be used for practicing unfamiliar techniques
- Pupils should focus on developing understanding of properties & characteristics of fibres, methods of fabric construction, use of a commercial pattern, fashion trends and impact on design development
- Practice past paper questions based on the recommended time allocations within the exam of 20 minutes per question. these should be submitted for marking and feedback.
- Pupils should be familiar with the structure required for developing answers for each type of question- see handout/Teams Post.

- Practice past paper questions based on the recommended time allocations within the exam.
Question 1- Design inspiration/development (15 marks)- 25-30 mins
Question 2- Properties of fabrics and construction techniques (10 Marks) 20 mins
Question 3- (10 marks) 20 mins
Question 4- (10 Marks) 20 mins
