Art and Design is a creative and practical subject that helps young people explore visual expression, materials and ideas while learning to communicate their thoughts through drawing, making and designing. Pupils discover different ways artists and designers work, develop technical skills with a range of media, and learn to think imaginatively and critically about their own work and the work of others. The subject builds confidence, problem‑solving, visual awareness and creativity, and supports progression to further study or careers in creative industries and beyond.
