
National 5 Practical Cookery – Advice to parents and carers from staff
- Attend each of the practical sessions relating to practice of final exam recipes. Each dish can only be practiced once in school but students can continue to develop skills by practicing similar dishes at home.
- During practice of dishes make notes on timings for key processes as this will help when writing time plan within planning assignment.
- Research presentation ideas for given dishes in order to complete service details and improve presentation of dishes.
- Develop exam technique by completing past paper questions and becoming familiar with structure for answering each type of questions. (see Command word and Exam technique power point on Teams)
- Revise current dietary advice, function and characteristics of ingredients, food storage, cooking methods.
